Founded in 2014, Micor Technology LLC is based in West Michigan (USA) and is a groundbreaking engineering and product development company who employs skilled engineers and scientists creating disrupting technologies related to power and mobility for both military and commercial use. The company charter is to use innovative engineering for emerging markets to extend the range of electric vehicles and aircraft.

The company’s plan is to develop new technologies such as high-power density and multi-fuel engines hybrid-electric power sources, which are safe and cost-effective for both power and mobility uses such as ground, marine, air vehicles and co-generation systems (on-site power generation) for buildings and manufacturing plants.

The Advanced Multi-passenger VTOL Aircraft (AMVA) can be powered by batteries making the AMVA an electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft or it can use a hybrid-electric powertrain. The aircraft can hold between five to seven passengers. When the aircraft transitions back and forth from vertical to forward flight, the propeller booms will move up or down accordingly but the fuselage always stays in the horizontal position providing the passengers with a normal horizontal position when flying.

Advanced Multi-passenger VTOL Aircraft Advantages:

  • The control of the vehicle is made by thrust differentiation, without pivoting propellers, wings or flaps
  • The aircraft construction is simple and cost effective
  • The maintenance costs are reduced
  • Same propulsion system is used for vertical flight as well as for forward flight
  • It uses a thrust augmentation arrangement to increase the lift even in static conditions, resulting a unitary or a subunitary thrust/weight ratio
  • In forward flight the lift is produced by the wings
  • It is a high efficient vehicle in both vertical and forward flight with improved range
  • The propellers are protected against the contact with environment
  • Very compact vehicle which uses the entire wingspan to produce lift
  • The aircraft can be fitted with pontoons for amphibious takeoff and landings

One of the keys, according to the company, is the ability of this aircraft to be purchased as either an all electric aircraft or a hybrid-electric aircraft. If a long range is needed than our current battery technology allows, the customer can have a multi-fuel engine, for a hybrid-electric aircraft powertrain, which will extend the range of the aircraft. With the hybrid-electric model, there are still battery packs inside the aircraft for ground and flight operations.

The aircraft is quite flexible when it comes to the ability accomplish aerial tasks. The aircraft can be used for commercial and military use, used for cargo service if required, seating can be adjusted for a light or full flight of passengers and the aircraft can be fitted with pontoons for water landings. The company states the aircraft can operate in Wings In Ground (WIG) effect.

The company also foresees this aircraft to be used for Urban Air Mobility (UAM), aerial inspections, search and rescue, first responder service, rural UAM, military transportation, border security, aerial fire fighting and for sightseeing tours. The company has submitted many patents for their designs.

Specifications:

  • Aircraft type: eVTOL or hybrid-electric VTOL aircraft
  • Piloting:
  • Capacity: 5-7 passengers
  • Maximum payload: 450 kg
  • Cruise speed: 230 km/h
  • Estimated maximum speed: 230 km/h
  • Reserve: 11 minutes
  • Cruise altitude: 305 m (1,000 ft)
  • Range: 125 km (hybrid-electric version has an extended range)
  • Propellers: 10
  • Propeller diameter: 1.24 m
  • Electric Motors: 10
  • Power source: Batteries (or hybrid-electric)
  • Length: 7.8 m (25 ft, 7 in)
