For Embraer’s 50th anniversary, Embraer Design Ops has designed a futuristic vertical takeoff and landing aircraft (VTOL), called the Pulse Concept, with the cabin being a removable pod which can be transferred to a ground vehicle and vice versa. The aircraft could very well be an electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft due to their target market entry date is 2070 and many scientists and inventors are hoping for solid state batteries to have a very high energy density. The aircraft landing autonomously to dock the pod to the ground vehicle.
The company is planning for future technologies to allow the creation of a smart all see-through passenger pod due to potential advances in glass technology and see-through alloy materials, such as transparent aluminium. Transparent aluminium (aluminium oxynitride) is a ceramic composed of aluminium, oxygen and nitrogen whose trade name is ALON. Transparent aluminium can be seen through and is four times harder than fused silica glass.Â

Using a pod for the passenger compartment will allow the passengers to transfer from the aircraft to a ground vehicle and back, without leaving the pod. In addition, having smart glass and an all see-through pod will allow the passengers to have spectacular views when flying or driving allowing them to have a better traveling experience whether working or relaxing during their trip. The company envisions smart glass being used for intedrnet searches, watching movies, making phone calls, creating videos and having the ability to do just about anything one can do with a smart phone or today’s personal computer.Â
The target market is for the Pulse Concept aircraft and ground vehicle is for the business traveler and the wealthy. EmbraerX has also been involved in development of the DreamMaker, an air taxi concept. The company recorded a trademark for EveX in July 2020.Â
